the end Fast and Furious movie no race to the cinemas, but at least we know now it’s coming. Universal just announced that the 11th film in the franchise, titled Fast Foreverwill hit theaters on March 17, 2028. It’s been five years between this title and the previous iteration, Hurry X.

The press release doesn’t say much more than that, like which stars are returning or who’s directing, writing, or anything. But the assumption is that Louis Leterrier, who is finished Hurry X when Justin Lin left the project, come back to finish the storyand all the main players—Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese, Ludacris, and even Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot—will return.

Late last year, Diesel went to an event and announced which is the 11th film (or 12th if you’re counting Hobbs and Shaw) will arrive in 2027. However, there have been no updates since then, and, obviously, for a movie of this size and scope to be ready in a year, the ball should be rolling now for that to happen. That’s why the year was delayed.

Why the delay? Well, how much time do you have? Reports on issues during the production of Hurry X continues. The fact that the film did not live up to expectations, from fans or at the box office, almost certainly made everyone involved withdraw and look at the next episode. Fast and Furious Movies are expensive, and if you make one, it better make a lot of money. Hurry X nothing.

What will happen in the film is another issue. The former left us with at least four cliffhangers. Diesel’s character, Dom, is at the bottom of a collapsed dam with his son. Many of his friends had just been in a plane crash. The Rock’s character, Hobbs, is apparently back, as is Gal Gadot’s character, Gisele.

How all things come together to end the story, while also bringing back Paul Walker’s character in a wayand more about Los Angeles-based street racing (as Diesel teased), it seems unlikely. But it will take five years for the team to figure it out.
