Tommaso Ciampa just signed with AEW. He now describes his first meeting with Tony Khan.

Tommaso Ciampa has spent the past few years in WWE. The final years of his campaign were spent on the main roster, where he struggled in pointless storylines that did him no favors. Therefore, he left the sports entertainment giant and joined AEW after his contract expired. He made his debut on Dynamite this week and even faced off against Mark Briscoe. It seems that the company has taken advantage of him.

In a recent interview with SI’s The Takedown, the former WWE star said that when he met Tony Khan For the first time, he saw the AEW owner’s passion for professional wrestling. It also made him believe he belonged in Jacksonville’s promotion.

“I’m telling you, last night was the first night I saw Tony Khan. It was my first time backstage and hanging out with everybody, but Tony in particular has a passion for pro wrestling that’s contagious. I love meeting him, I love the energy he shares. He cares so much about his locker room, he cares about his fan base. It felt good, and everything last night felt like hey, this is where you’re supposed to be… I’ve been following (AEW) for a long time, just waiting for the right moment, and everything just fell into place.” (high temperature/high temperature Aggressive)

Tommaso Ciampa explains why he left WWE

Tommaso Ciampa had a great run during his time in NXT. However, his career hit a roadblock after he was promoted to the main roster. He wasn’t booked correctly and couldn’t get over.

In the same interview, Ciampa explains he wants to leave WWE for a whileand there were a lot of factors that played a role in his decision.

“It’s something I’ve been leaning toward for a long time. I don’t know that there’s a single factor that I can say has led to it or caused it. I think it’s one of those things where when your contract is coming to an end, you naturally have discussions… When I look at the landscape of pro wrestling in the 2020s… the answer is AEW, man. That’s what I want to be a part of,” he said. (H/T- and)

It will be interesting to see if Tommaso Ciampa gets a proper booking in AEW.
