Match preview for Manchester United vs Fulham
Fulham Rejuvenation has to be faced Manchester United on sunday.
The arrival of Michael Carrick as interim head coach has had a transformative effect at Old Trafford and back-to-back wins against Manchester City and Arsenal have changed ambitions for the rest of the season.
Under Ruben Amorim, United appear to be sleepwalking to a mid-table finish but now bowing out of a Champions League qualifying spot is a real possibility.
United started the weekend in fourth After a win at the Emirates and with home games with Fulham and struggling Spurs to come next week, their position could only get better.
For that to happen, however, they will have to improve their form at Old Trafford where they have won more than half of their league games this season.
Carrick said: “I think ultimately consistency is the key to success and in my eyes that’s one of the hardest things to achieve, to be consistently good.
“It takes a lot to be able to deal emotionally with the ups and downs of this game. That’s what we’re working towards. We’ve got a couple of weeks, two good results, big games coming up and it’s about keeping the mind in the right place.”
Aware of how dangerous Marco Silva’s side can be, Carrick will not tolerate any complacency at the weekend.
“Marco has put him in a really good team,” he added. “To take anything for granted is really bang of the order and it could be that the flow of the game is the same as the last two. There’s no shame in that. We’ll face the game in front of us and do whatever we can to come out on top.”
Fulham are three places and four points behind United but on a good run. They have lost just one of their last eight league games – at Leeds a fortnight ago.
