said Marvel new show Amazing Man is streaming nowand it shows us what happened in Hollywood while the Avengers were there saving the multiverse. Simon Williams (Yama is my Malays II) and Trevor Slattery (Sir Ben Kingsley) will work together to star in a big-budget superhero movie, and to make everything more real, the show brings two famous actors not only to cameo but to play themselves.
Those actors are Joe Pantoliano, star of The Matrix, Bad Boys, The Sopranos, and many others, as well as Josh Gad, star in Frozen, Workand in the future Spaceballs 2.
Talked to Entertainment every week, Amazing Man Filmmakers Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest explain how and why each actor came on board the project.
Those reasons have some spoilers for Amazing Man therefore, it is best to drop this warning.

Gad appeared in the show’s fourth episode, “Doorman,” which tells the story of a superpowered man who made it so that no superpowered actor could ever appear in a movie again. Gad performs an even greater exaggeration of himself as the star who takes the doorman, aka DeMarr Davis, under his wing, to their mischief.
“There was always going to be a celebrity character cameo for DeMarr to match in that episode, but Josh was the first person we asked,” Guest told EW. “And once he said yes, we had to write it specifically to him. And he just jumped in with both feet. He was so much fun to work with on set.”
“Obviously, he’s very funny and a bit of a Disney icon,” Cretton added. “To be able to take someone like that, who is known for being so beautiful and incredibly sweet and helpful, and have him play a little alter ego—in many ways, he’s kind of playing the devil in this episode. He takes someone who’s very happy with his life, who’s very content with where he’s at, and he plants this seed of power, like, ‘You”. He plants this seed that creates a little monster which ends in a terrible place. But because it’s Josh Gad, it’s funny and fun to watch.
Yes, yes it is.
As for Pantoliano, he plays one of Trevor’s bitterest rivals, appearing in several episodes, including the finale. Dropping him is similar to how Gad rides.
“We have a list of character actors who are some of the best actors out there who may not be household names, but there’s such love from everyone at Marvel to so many of these people who mean so much to so many of us,” Guest said. “And Joey was just standing among the plants and he was the first person we called.”
And when the actor affectionately called “Joey Pants” agreed, the role was once again tailored to him. “The amazing thing about him is that he has so much to say about (acting and Hollywood),” Guest said. “He’s written a lot of books. He’ll talk your ear off about acting and about his thoughts on why he got into the business and where his love of the craft came from. And we put it all into the script, and it’s really amazing.”
See Pantoliano and Gad in all their MCU glory Amazing Man, which is now on Disney+.
