Samsung’s 2025 is filled with new foldablesdeer ultra-thin new form factor and the launch of Google’s XR platform. After making some CES 2026 announcementsthe company is expected to host the first Galaxy Unpacked of the year in February to introduce the Galaxy S26 line.

Engadget will be covering Galaxy Unpacked live, and we’ll likely have hands-on coverage of Samsung’s new smartphones after they’re announced. While we wait for an official invitation, here’s everything we expect Samsung to introduce at its first Galaxy Unpacked event in 2026.

Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra

Samsung’s restrained approach to updating its phones will likely continue with the Galaxy S26. Based on dropped pictures in the new lineup, the company is not expected to radically change the appearance of the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 + or Galaxy S26 Ultra, and instead will keep the same design as what it used in the Galaxy S25. The phones have a flat front screen and frame, with rounded corners and cameras placed in a vertical pill-shaped back. Unlike Apple’s move from iPhone 16 Pro to the iPhone 17 Prothe biggest difference here is probably the internal components like screens, chips and camera sensors used by Samsung.

Qualcomm is new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip expected to be on all Samsung Galaxy S26 phones, although Korean news site Yonhap news reports Samsung is relatively new Exynos 2600 chip will be available on some phones in the lineup depending on the region, a strategy Samsung has used in the past. Either way the new phones should be more performant than the previous generation, and in the case of models with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, better in on-device AI processing.

One notable difference between the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S25 may be the phone’s screen. The new phone is reported to have a 6.3-inch FHD+ display as per the specs shared by leaker Ice Universewhich makes it much smaller than the 6.2-inch display used in the Galaxy S25. The S26 can also come with 12GB of RAM, 256GB or 512GB of storage and a slightly larger 4,300mAh battery. Samsung hasn’t changed the cameras on the entry-level phone, though: leaks suggest it will have the same 50-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel ultrawide, 10-megapixel 3x telephoto and 12-megapixel selfie camera as the previous generation. The changes appear to be much smaller on the Galaxy S26+. Apart from the new Snapdragon chip, the phone is reported to have the same 6.7-inch FHD+ screen, 4,900mAh battery, 12GB of RAM and the same camera array used in the base Galaxy S26.

The difference between the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Ultra is reportedly clearer. According to Android Headsthe cameras of the new phone are slightly higher, and stand out thanks to a new metallic finish. Samsung may also return to using an aluminum frame on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, after using titanium frames on the Galaxy S24 and S25 Ultras. Most importantly, to make the phone really support Qi2 than technically only working on the standard if a case is attached, suggestion of rumours Samsung will remove the S Pen digitizer layer of the phone and adopt a new method of accepting stylus input. It’s not clear exactly what the new method is, but it could allow the Galaxy S26 Ultra to easily work with Qi2 accessories without losing its stylus.

Galaxy Buds 4

Samsung released the Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro in 2024, with a major redesign that brings them more in line with Apple’s AirPods. The Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro Samsung is rumored to announce soon should not change that, although they will feature a more compact case and less angular stems, according to the leaked images from the Samsung Tips app.

Support for head movements to accept and reject calls, a feature that Apple included in AirPods Pro 3 and AirPods 4, is also rumored to work on two versions of the new Galaxy Buds. SamMobile reports The Galaxy Buds 4 and 4 Pro will also ship with a new Ultra Wideband chip that will make them faster to find Google Search Hub network.

Galaxy Z Trifold

Samsung announced the Galaxy Z TriFold in late 2025 with no firm details on when the new smartphone-that-folds-into-a-tablet will be available in North America. That information came on January 27, when the company announced the TriFold will be available in the US on January 30, for a whopping $2,900. Considering we already have saw the device in person at CES 2026 and people will likely have a chance to see, if not buy the foldable for themselves by the time Unpacked rolls around, we don’t expect Samsung to spend much time living with it, if at all.

Galaxy S26 Edge

When the Galaxy S25 Edge announced in 2025, it seems possible that Samsung will replace the “Plus” smartphone with a unique form factor, as Apple chose to do iPhone Air. There is already conflicting reports on this matter, but it looks like Samsung won’t do that with the Galaxy S26 Edge.

However, the smartphone will reportedly remain another option, such as foldables for customers who are not attracted to traditional Samsung smartphones. The Galaxy S26 Edge is rumored to have a slightly different design than last year’s model, according to Android Headswith a large rectangular camera plateau reminiscent of Google’s Pixel phones, and the raised oval Apple used in the iPhone Air. On top of that, the phone is also expected to be thinner at 5.5mm than the 5.8mm Galaxy S25 Edge.

Bixby and other AI features

Samsung is already acting as a first place Google can demonstrate new AI features for Android, but the company is reportedly exploring other AI partnerships, too. In June 2025, Bloomberg reported that Samsung is close to a deal with Perplexity to integrate its AI-powered search engine into OneUI and its homegrown mobile browser. There is confusion a deal with Motorola of its Razr phones, so the only thing that would make a deal with Samsung unusual is the close relationship the company already has with Google.

Accident also announced by the company a new version of its Bixby AI assistantwhich will likely also be included in Perplexity and may serve as an alternative to Google Gemini. Both a new Bixby and a deeper Perplexity integration seem like natural new software features to show off at Galaxy Unpacked.
