former south african pacer Dale Stein Predictive SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) became the champions of IPL 2026 season. The 19th edition of the cash-rich league is due to start in March 2026.

During a question and answer (Q&A) session on Dale Steyn’s official X account, a user asked Dale Steyn to predict the winner of IPL 2026. He replied that maybe SRH can win this season. Notably, SRH have already won the IPL trophy once in 2016 when they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the final.

“Maybe SRH,” Steyn replied.

SRH’s performance in IPL 2025 was not good. They only won 6 games and lost 7 with no results. They are sixth in the standings with 13 points.

They reached the final in 2024 but lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In 2017, they lost to KKR in the knockout round and in 2018, they lost to KKR in the final chennai super kings (CSK). They lost again to Delhi Capitals (DC) in the knockout round in 2019 and lost to the same team in the second qualifier in 2020. In 2021, 2022 and 2023, they failed to make the playoffs.

Dale Steyn played for SRH for three seasons and even served as their bowling coach

Dale Steyn has previously been associated with SRH as a player and coach. He first joined the team in 2013 and played for the team for three seasons until 2015.

Steyn played a total of 37 games for SRH, taking 33 wickets at an average of 29.85, an economy rate of 6.90, and his best figures of 3/11.

He last played in the IPL as a player in 2021, playing for RCB. He was subsequently appointed as the bowling coach of SRH and played for the team for two seasons in 2022 and 2023. He missed the 2024 season and was replaced by James Franklin.

Prior to the 2025 season, Steyn confirmed that we would not be returning to the role as he had parted ways with the team in 2024.
