Holland have a penalty saved in a dull draw

Manchester City failed to win again as Premier League champions Everton were held at home.

Erling Haaland had a chance to give Pep Guardiola’s side a much-needed win but his second-half penalty was saved by England number one Jordan Pickford.

City took the lead when Bernardo Silva saw a shot deflect off goal and into the back of Pickford.

But Iliman Ndia pulled Everton back level with a superb shot on goal with the outside of his boot.

City were awarded a penalty in the second half when Savinho was tripped by Vitaly Mykolenko but Haaland’s effort was well saved by Pickford.

City have now won once in their last 13 games in all competitions and sit sixth in the table.

They have dropped 26 points in the league – already more than last season – and will need to win all their remaining games to match last season’s 28 league wins.
