The Abyss is now a core alliance mechanic in Path of Exile 2: The Last Druid. This means that, unlike patch 0.3, you won’t find it spawning on every map. However, you can use the new Pioneer of the Abyss tablets to force it. If an Abyss encounter exists on the map, it will appear as a green circle along with other map objectives.
The core mechanics behind Abyss remain unchanged. However, within your Atlas passive, there is now a dedicated tree that you can use to modify the spawning of drops and monsters. This guide will help you set up the best Abyss atlas tree In Path of Exile 2, use this alliance mechanic to farm items.
Best Atlas Tree Progression for the Abyss in Path of Exile 2

While there are multiple nodes to choose from, you can only earn a total of eight Abyss skill points. Finding all of them is not that difficult. Here are all the ways to fully unlock the Abyss Atlas Tree:
- Complete an Abyssal encounter
- Complete the Abyss
- Defeat Tusgur, the Devourer of Light or Vandros, the Blackblood Slaver
- Defeat Kulaymak’s ship
You will receive two points for completing each objective. The first two are easy to complete since you can use Abyss Precursor tablets And finally get the abyss. Defeating Kulemak’s Ship is also easy, but you will need Kulemak’s Invitation, which drops from the Lightless Void or Dark Realm. Both encounters will feature a boss fight and will drop invitations as a reward.
However, finding your way to the Lightless Void or Dark Realm in the Exile 2 endgame can be difficult, so it’s best to buy Kullemak’s invitation From currency exchange. They’re cheap, and fully completing this encounter will reward you with a Tome of Lightless Knowledge (IV).
Here are the best Abyss Atlas tree progression settings:

Stir up the swarm, as it will add another Abyss to the map containing this encounter. It improves the chances of getting more loot or extra side areas. If the map does not contain an abyss, this passive skill will not generate an abyss. However, you first have to enter “From Out of the Pit”.
Use the left passive chain with “Spreading Rupture”, which increases the number of monsters coming from the Abyss, and “Evil Influence”, which increases the number of monsters coming from the Abyss abyss Monster mod.
Use rare Abyssal Tablets to improve loot in Path of Exile 2

One of the big changes made in Path of Exile 2 in version 0.4 is the ability to turn Forerunner Tablets into Rare Tablets. This feature only works when defeating Ash Arbiterbut it can significantly increase the loot from abyss monsters and treasure chests.
In addition to this, increasing item rarity and map rarity will also affect your drops. Getting good rare gear can be expensive, so if you start Abyss farming, it’s best to focus on pathstones and Atlas passive skills.
