Argentine President Javier Milei plans to attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump in January, Milei’s spokesman confirmed on Tuesday.
A spokesman for Trump’s transition team did not respond to a request for comment.
Miley, a Trump’s aide who was elected last year and describes himself as an “anarcho-capitalist”, posted on X a on Monday link to the news and wrote “Make Argentina Great Again Make America Great Again,” adding a handshake emoticon between the US and Argentina flag emoticons.

Milei is the first world leader expected to be in Washington for the Jan. 20 event, although arrangements are underway for others to join. CBS News reported last week that Chinese President Xi Jinping, whom Trump personally invited to the inauguration, will probably not attendaccording to several sources.
Trump confirmed Monday that he had exchanged letters with Xi and that he “would love to have him (at the inauguration), but there hasn’t been much discussion” about whether he would accept the invitation.
Trump added that he had received invitations from more than 100 world leaders since he won the election, and to the first question he said that he had not invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. However, “if he wants to come, I’d love to have him,” Trump said.
State Department records dating back to 1874 show that no world leader attended the US transfer of power ceremony. Traditionally, foreign ambassadors and their spouses represent their governments at the quadrennial event.
Milei met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago shortly after the November election.
