Congolese President Sassou Nguesso will seek re-election in March 2026




Congo is heading for another closely watched presidential race after the ruling Congolese Labor Party confirmed it would back veteran leader Denis Sassou Nguesso again, extending the 82-year-old’s decades-long rule into a 2026 election that is already drawing attention from the opposition.
