Newcastle join forces to sign former Tottenham star for over £20m

Newcastle United Contact has now been made over a potential deal to welcome the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder back to the squad Premier LeagueAccording to reports.

Eddie Howe: Newcastle vs Sunderland ‘not a mess’

Newcastle can’t find any consistency at the moment. From late Champions League draws and impressive wins against the likes of Manchester City to a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland in the Tyne and Wear derby, the Magpies have quickly become one of the most unpredictable teams in the league.

Defeat at Stadium of Light sparks more questions about Eddie HoweMore tenure on Tyneside than ever before. Club captain Bruno Guimarães even slammed the full-time performance in brutally honest commentary, but Howe chose to remain optimistic about his team’s performance.

Eddie Howe

he tell reporters Earlier this week: “I think Bruno’s comments were initially 90% correct.

“I don’t think we were a mess. I don’t think the rest of his initial comments were wrong. But we weren’t a mess. We were well organised. We just didn’t deliver the performance we wanted. I think Bruno was very emotional and that was part of his success.

“That’s why he’s such a good player and leader for us, but it makes sure that the message we put out there is the right one. The second statement he made was 100 percent correct and that’s what we need. The mentality right now is we can’t affect the past. We can only affect the future and we need to work together.”

Howe must sell Newcastle star with lower bid than Elanga faces Sunderland

Eddie Howe must now consider selling this Newcastle United side after a poor performance in the Tyne and Wear derby.

Whether Guimarães’ performance last weekend was right or wrong, there is no doubt that Newcastle will need reinforcements in January if they are to once again set their sights on European qualification.

It certainly wouldn’t be a bad idea to welcome a player with experience on Europe’s biggest stage in that regard, making Giovanni Lo Celso an outstanding target.

According to Spanish reports, Newcastle have now made contact over a deal to sign Lo Celso in the January transfer window. The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has struggled in La Liga this season, scoring once in 13 games, and could now be on his way back to the Premier League.

At his best, the Argentine has the ability to unlock the toughest of defences, and for just €25m (£22m) he would be a steal for Newcastle if they can finally get him back to his best, free-flowing form on Tyneside.

Called “great” by former Spurs boss Angie Postkoglu Lo Celso could be back to haunt those in north London when he last played in the Premier League and tie up some unfinished business in England come the January transfer window.

It all comes down to the consistency of the Argentine, who has shown only the best of himself at Tottenham. Newcastle cannot afford to spend more money on midfielders who fail to live up to expectations and there is no denying that Lo Celso will be a risk.
