Soybean trade with weakness on Monday


Soybeans traded with losses from 5 to 7 cents at noon on Monday. The national average cmdtyView Cash Bean price was 6 cents lower at $10.00 1/2. Soybean meal futures were up 90 cents at $1.20, and soybean oil futures were up 68 points at midday.

The USDA reported a private export sale of 136,000 MT to China this morning.

Data from export inspections showed soybean shipments totaled 795,661 MT (29.24 mbu) in the week ending Dec. 11. This was a 22.4% drop from the previous week and a 59.6% drop from the same week last year. China was the main destination for 202,043 MT, with 136,515 MT in Germany and 80,425 MT in Vietnam. Shipments for the marketing year amounted to 13,702 MMT (503.47 mbu), a decrease of 46.3% on the year.

This morning we got another belated update to the export sales report, showing 2.232 MMT in sales, at the higher end of estimates of 0.8-3 MMT for the week of November 20. 2.14 MMT were sold in China, which was mostly known for daily sales announcements. Known sales in China, including this morning’s announcement, are now 4.2 MMT.

Food sales were estimated at 150,951 MT, in the lower half of the estimated 100,000-450,000 MT. Soybean oil sales rose again from the previous week to 7,540 MT at the lower end of estimates of 5,000-25,000 MT.

NOPA data was released this morning, with members crushing 216.04 million bushels during November. That was a 5.1% drop from October’s all-time record, but still up 11.83% from last year and a record for the month. Soybean oil stocks rose 15.95% from the end of October to 1.513 billion pounds, which were also up 39.58% on the year.

AgRural estimated the Brazilian soybean crop at 97% planted on Thursday.

March 26 Soybeans are at $10.80, down 6 3/4 cents,

May 26 Soybeans are at $10.91 1/2, down 5 1/2 cents,
