The first trailer for the Supergirl a rollicking road trip blast, giving us a glimpse of Kara’s quarter-life crisis in space with Krypto in tow.
A blondie needle drop smash-cuts in a scene that shows us what Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) has been over since we last saw him Superman. Cool music choice from Director Craig Gillespie emphasizes Kara not his cousin Clark. No instruments of arrival here set the stage for a hero; This is the pure Party, On-AAA-Bender Energy. For a fun time under the stars, Kara is your call.
The movie is based on DC Comics’ Supergirl: Girl of tomorrowand from what we have seen, alcock (House of the dragon) brings a refreshing take on the character. Supergirl isn’t spic and span like Superman; He is reduced – a 23-year-old distracting Kryptonian from the trauma of seeing his home planet, people, and parents die.
It’s not until he meets another galactic-shifted girl that he’s reminded of things he doesn’t want to face, but as fate would have it, it’s time for him to face it. “He sees the good in everyone, and I see the truth,” he said, stopping any Superman comparisons in their tracks.
We are excited for Gillespie’s vision as fans of his work with Emma Stone coffee and margot robbie in I’m Tonyaboth films are about imperfect people that you can’t help but root for. Gillespie has a flair for letting women-faced stories take center stage, enhanced by his stylistic choices.
That shot of KRATATE reaching for Krypto—seeing himself shown to his best friend in what are his final moments—gave me a lot of “is the dog going to die?” concern, so thank you, DC studios, for putting that shot out there. Thankfully, the trailer also shows US Kara packing some serious ass when she takes on the superGirl mantle.
We’re ready for Kara and Krypto’s space Odysssey, and summer can’t come soon enough! Supergirl hitting theaters June 26, 2026.
