Cursor, the wild ones popular Ai Coding Startuplaunched a new feature that lets people design the look and feel of Ai web applications. The tool, a visual editor, is the essential vibe-coding product for designers, giving them access to the same fine-grained control they expect from professional design software. But in addition to making changes manually, the tool allows them to request edits from AI AGENT AI AIGU using natural language.

Cursor is best known for its AI platform, but with the visual editor, the startup wants to capture other parts of the software creation process. “The core we envisioned, the professional developers, hasn’t changed,” Cursor’s head of design, Ryo Lu, told Wired. “But really, the developers are not on their own. They work with a lot of people, and anyone who makes software should find something useful from the cursor.”

Cursor is one of the fastest growing AI startups of all time. Since its 2023 debut, the company says it has surpassed $1 billion in annual revenue, including ten companies, including NVIDIA, Salesforce, and PWC, as customers. Last November, the startup closed a $2.3 billion funding round that raised approx $ 30 Billion.

Cursor was an early leader in the Ai Coding market, but is now facing more pressure than bigger competitors like Openi, Antropic, and Google. Historically startups licensed AI models from companies, but now their rivals are pushing out more AI products. Claude Code in Antropic Code, for example, grows faster than the cursor, which has reached $1 billion in annual revenue just six months after launch. In response, Cursor began developing and deploying its own AI models.

Traditionally, software applications required many different teams working together on a wide range of products and tools. By incorporating design capabilities directly into its coding environment, Cursor wants to demonstrate that it can bring these functions together on a single platform.

“Before, designers used to live in their own world of pixels and frames, and they would never translate processes and designers, but there was a lot of friction,” said Lu. “We envision the design world and the coding world to merge into an interface with an AI agent.”

Ai-Powered Web Design

In a demo at Wired’s headquarters in San Francisco, PROUNT Cursor Product Engineering lead Jason Ginsberg demonstrated how the visual architecture of a webpage can change.

A traditional design panel on the right allows users to adjust fonts, add buttons, create change menus. On the left, a chat interface accepts natural language requests, such as “make the background color of this button.” The Cursor agent then applies the changes directly to the code base.

Last year, Cursor released its own web browser that works directly within its coding environment. The company argues that the browser creates an optimal feedback loop in product development, allowing engineers and designers requests from REAL users and access to Real User Tools and Access to Real User Tools.
