president Donald Trump A CDC advisory committee voted Friday to end its longstanding guidance on giving babies the hepatitis B vaccine at birth, saying the rule is unnecessary for healthy newborns. Hours later, a comprehensive review of every childhood vaccine recommendation in the United States was ordered.
“Today, the CDC Vaccine Committee made a very good decision to end the hepatitis B vaccine recommendation for infants, the vast majority of whom are not at risk for hepatitis B, a disease that is primarily spread through sex or through dirty needles,” Trump wrote.
The president also criticized what he said is a vaccine plan that goes “far beyond what is necessary.”
“The U.S. childhood vaccination schedule has long required 72 ‘vaccines’ for perfectly healthy babies, far more than any other country in the world and far more than necessary,” the president added. “In fact, it’s ridiculous! Many parents and scientists have been questioning the efficacy of this ‘schedule,’ and so am I!”

Trump announced he signed a memorandum instructing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to “fast track” the current U.S. vaccine program.
“I just signed a Presidential Memorandum directing the Department of Health and Human Services to ‘rapidly’ conduct a comprehensive review of the vaccine schedules of other countries around the world and better align America’s vaccine schedule, so it is finally rooted in the gold standard of science and common sense!” Trump wrote.
President Trump concluded his message by reaffirming his support for Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., writing: “I have every confidence that Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the CDC will get this done quickly and right for our nation’s children.”
