WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Donald Trump’s White House has ordered the U.S. military to release an embargo imposed by the Biden administration on the supply of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel, a White House source told Reuters on Saturday.

The move is widely anticipated. Biden blocked the delivery of the bombs out of concern over their impact on Israel’s war on Hamas in Gaza. A ceasefire to stop the war was recently agreed.

Of particular concern to the Biden administration is the use of such large bombs in the city of Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians in Gaza have taken refuge.
