Pope Francis opens the Holy Door in St. Peter’s Basilica to mark a special jubilee


Pope Francis launched a special jubilee for Roman Catholics in a Christmas Eve ceremony at the Vatican.

The pope marks the start of the jubilee by opening the usually brick Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica.

The Jubilee takes place every 25 years and more than 30 million pilgrims are expected to travel to Rome and pass through the gates to seek forgiveness of sins.
