The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) maintained a fierce standoff with the Trump administration after the White House announced its dismissal.

According to lawyers, Susan Monarez, who has only worked for a month, refused “unscientific, reckless instructions to rubber stamps” and accused Secretary of Health Robert F Kennedy Jr of “weaponized public health.”

Her lawyers insist that Dr. Monares’s firing is illegal and that only President Donald Trump (not a White House official) can be removed.

The White House said in a statement that the reason for the removal was that she “did not be consistent with the president’s agenda.”

At least three senior CDC leaders resigned from the agency’s resignation, some of whom were frustrated with vaccine policies and Kennedy’s leadership, also known as RFK Jr.

He added that the CDC has “has trouble and needs to be addressed.”
