Manchester United officials will not involve themselves in Ruben Amorim’s decision to drop Marcus Rashford from his matchday squad, a report has revealed.
Rashford was first dropped for the Manchester derby, after which he “A new challenge“. He has since been left out of two more matchday squads, with Amorim openly admitting that his absence was a technical decision and not a disciplinary one.
According to Daily MailCharge it at combined Amorim is happy to let the team make such decisions and will not put any pressure on the head coach while the stand-off continues.
Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, director Sir Dave Brailsford, chief executive Omar Berada and technical director Jason Wilcox would neither encourage Amorim to end Rashford’s exile, nor demand his reinstatement to the team.
While there is an acknowledgment that Rashford’s presence on the bench is far from ideal – not least because of his wages which are in excess of £300,000 per week – the United hierarchy will put their faith in Amorim to manage all issues with selection.
Amorim, for his part, has Rashford’s door isn’t closed forever. Indeed, he has emphasized his desire to keep the forward at Old Trafford and has repeatedly insisted that the players are handed a fresh slate after each matchday.
Alejandro Garnacho, who was also dropped for the Manchester derby, has since been used off the bench in United’s last two games, showing there is a way back for players accused of letting their standards slip behind the scenes.
