Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenborg has revealed the tactical approach that led the Reds to a stunning win over Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.
The Reds were on fire as they beat Ange Postecoglou’s side with six points to extend their lead at the top of the table.
In the 23rd minute, Luis Diaz received a precise cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold and headed the ball past the goalkeeper to give the team the lead. Thirteen minutes later, Alexis McAllister scored from close range, exposing Tottenham’s defensive mistakes and doubling their advantage.
Tottenham Hotspur briefly revived just before half-time with a superb strike from James Maddison. However, Liverpool restored their two-goal lead minutes later, with Dominik Szoboszlai completing a superb counterattack to make it 3-1 on the break.
Mohamed Salah scored twice in the second half to give Liverpool a 5-1 lead. Despite late goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke, it was Diaz’s second late goal that sealed victory for the Reds.
Ryan Gravenberch reveals Liverpool target right side of Tottenham defense
Most of Liverpool’s goals came from the right, with Gravenberch later revealing that this was part of their plan to target Tottenham’s right-side defence, with Radu Dragusin seen as the weak link.
granven birch told London Broadcasting Corporation:
“Yes, we had a very good game plan, we wanted to keep them on the right and press the right centre-back. Sometimes it went well, sometimes they did a good job, but at the end of the day I thought we did a really good job. “
Radu Dragusin endured a torrid night, failing to spot Luis Diaz’s kick and conceding Liverpool’s third goal to Szoboszlai.
Radu Dragusin has struggled at Tottenham so far

The Romanian hasn’t had the best start to his Tottenham career. He joined them in January, choosing Spurs over Bayern Munich. However, the young centre-back initially struggled with game time with Christian Romero and Mickey van de Veen ahead of him.
The 21-year-old’s time in the side was extended with both first-choice defenders sidelined, but his performance highlighted his inexperience at the highest level.
Anj Postkoglu now faces a crucial decision on how to address his team’s defensive weaknesses. The absence of Romero and Van de Veen has left Tottenham in a difficult situation, with the temporary partnership struggling to cope with top opponents like Liverpool.
