A Massachusetts suspect was indicted this week Trying to assassinate The U.S. Department of Justice said the Cabinet nominee.
Ryan Michael English, 24, is Arrested in January Allegedly attempted to bring a knife and two impromptu Molotov cocktails to the U.S. Capitol to assassinate then-Treasury Secretary candidate Scott Bessent during the nomination period.
English was charged Thursday with alleged assassination of a cabinet member nominee and carrying dangerous weapons on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol building.
English made his first court appearance Thursday afternoon.

Prosecutors said the English language was also originally intended to kill House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-la. and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and inspired by the murder suspect Luigi Mangione, CEO of United Healthcare.
According to the initial charging documents, the British walked towards the U.S. Capitol police on January 27 and allegedly said: “I want to hand over.”

According to court documents, the British claimed two Molotov cocktails and two knives and said they were “killing Scott Becente” there. The British left their home in Massachusetts and headed for Washington with the intention of killing Heggs, which the suspects called “Nazis” and Johnson, and burned down the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank near the White House, federal prosecutors said.
During the search, Capitol police found an improvised burning device made of a folding knife and two vodka bottles and a grey cloth stuck to the top of the inside of the jacket in English.
