The Last of Us Season 2’s New Trailer Asks Us If We’re Ready to Hurt Again

During CES, Sony and Bad Dog has unveiled a new trailer for the second season of HBO’s Emmy-winning series The Last of Usstarring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. And now we know when it’s coming out.

This is our first look at the future of the show since a teaser trailer was released at the end of September. The two-minute teaser, which draws many referential parallels to its 2020 Game of the Year-winning progenitor, picks up five years after climactic events of the first season. In it, we see the family relationship of Joel (Miller) and Ellie (Ramsey) fall apart as the pair grow apart in that pivotal moment at the end of the first season.

Unfortunately, the age-old adage that there is no rest for the wicked reaches both the undead and the living as the duo fight for survival. As with its first season, time will tell if the upcoming season of The Last of Us dogmatically follow the story beats of its source material or play with them in inventive and expansive ways. We hope for the latter.

Joining Pascal and Ramsey to complete the show’s cast are Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina (Ellie’s new love interest), and Young Mazino as Jesse. Like the previous season that featured video game Joel and Ellie actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson in cameos, the second season of The Last of Us Jeffrey Wright will be seen reprising his role as Isaac from the play. Additional cast members for the season include Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and fellow returning actors Gabriel Luna and Rutina Wesley as Tommy and Maria, respectively. one.

In io9’s review of The Last of Uswe hailed the show as the best video game adaptation ever, writing, “The season has had some peaks and valleys, but the valleys have never been so low, and the peaks have been so high, resulting in in an incredible season of television, set to be one of the best of the year.”

The Last of Us The second season is set to premiere on HBO and Max in a few hours April.
