Lando Norris admits that Max Verstappen should have won the championship last season, but he didn’t, as the driver looked back at his first F1 championship battle of all time. The 2024 season is a peculiar season as it starts with Red Bull’s cars being more comfortable than everyone else.

This helped Max Verstappen gain an advantage in the rest of the grid, as Dutch drivers gave up only one race until that season before racing in Miami, even if it was the result of technical issues. But, starting with Miami, things start to change. Lando Norris McLaren.

As the season since then progresses, Lando Norris has more and more cars than the Max Verstappen. Even though the Dutch driver had a slower car, he brought together an impressive run and still delayed the UK.

It’s also the result of multiple things, including Lando Norris’ inability to determine his start and maintain a lead, even when starting the game from pole position. In an interview f1.comLando Norris is open to what happened last season and sees it as a large learning curve. Norris said he acknowledged how Max Verstappen should win the championship, and he didn’t win the championship.

“I think (in the second half of last year) I know best about going back to the frontline, performing under pressure and playing against the best game in the world. We learned more there than we did when we did other things later. Can I make better decisions? Yes. Yes.

He added,

“At the end of the day, I’m glad I’ve experienced all these things and learned from them because it definitely helped me to be a better driver and now I’m more prepared. Everyone is different. Sometimes people are more natural in these things, and some people have to learn more and spend more time learning these things.”

Good Learning Experience: Lando Norris fights Max Verstappen in 2024

2024 is the first time Lando Norris has a car he can challenge the championship, and it seems the driver is still learning the job. Speaking of fighting Max Verstappen, Norris admitted that the entire experience was also a major learning curve for him. He said

“It was a great learning experience for me. Some of them are more specific than others, but there are a lot of different situations. Even though it’s my sixth year, it’s still a very big learning curve. It’s a really good season to get into all these things in the winter.”

He added,

“I looked back at what is good, what is bad, strengths, weaknesses, and how to put them together to make you a more complete driver. I think (which is crucial in terms of learning and understanding myself and what I need to work on).

Lando Norris will be seen in the 2025 F1 season Oscar Piastri Fighting for the championship with their McLaren, but Max Verstappen, as always, will be a big factor this year.
