“Consisters”: CEO of Zomato, Deepinder Goyal Rubshes, claims on the loss of market share in the middle of the viral publication of Reddit


Zomato The CEO Deepinder Goyal dismissed on Saturday that the company loses its market share or forcing employees to commission exclusively on its platform. His response followed a Viral Reddit site, allegedly from a Zomato employee, who raised concern about the internal practices of the company and the competitive position.

The post anonymous stated that Zomato was losing ground in rivals like Zepto Cafe and Swiggy. He claimed that employees had the obligation to make at least seven orders a month in Zomato, with an internal monitoring applied, and that the sorting of competitors like Swiggy was banned at office facilities.

The site also described a “toxic” work environment, citing the abrupt departure of Rakesh Ranjan, ex -CEO of the Zomato Food Delivery Division, shortly after a town hall with employees.

“All this is an absolute nonsense,” Goyal said in a publication on the X social media platform (before Twitter). “We also do not lose the market share, nor will our employees be forced to ask Zomato. Freedom of choice is something that we are coming up to vehemently.”

The unidentified individual who brought to the internal problems in Zomato suggested that the company be losing ground to competitors like Zepto Cafe and Swiggy. According to the complainant, employees allegedly had to place a minimum of seven orders a month in Zomato, with control mechanisms in their place. In addition, the complainant stated that the use of rival platforms like Swiggy was supposedly banned in the office.

The place also mentioned a negative work environment, citing the sudden dismissal of Rakesh Ranjan, the former head of the Zomato Food Delivery Division, after a meeting with the members of the staff.

The publication read that one of the main challenges of the industry refers to the treatment of delivery members. These essential workers are experiencing a significant problem of being paid and too worked, especially when compared to competing platforms like Zomato, which pay a considerably lower rate, sometimes almost half.
