“The American people can finally breathe a huge sigh of relief,” Babin said. “The end of the disastrous Biden administration is coming, and with it the end of open borders, asylum abuses, lawlessness, sanctuary cities — all of which are also It will all end.”
“But for us, as members of the House Border Security Conference,” Babin continued, “our work has just begun.”
Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., also said the “first priority” for congressional Republicans must be passing border security act. He said this would “ensure that future presidents don’t subvert the law the way Biden has done.”
“President Trump has proven that you can create a secure border when the law is enforced,” he said. “But President Biden has proven that a president interested in opening our borders can do the same.”

McClintock also said Congress needs to approve sanctuary jurisdictions that protect illegal immigrants from deportation.
Rep. Michael Crowder, R-Texas, also supports the idea, saying Republicans in Congress need to “harden our spine” to defund institutions and cities that serve as magnets. Attract illegal immigrants into the country.
“As Congress, we need to defund the wrong things. We need to stop funding these agencies to do bad things. That includes continuing to be magnets that draw people here through faulty and illegal processes,” he said. “So we have to take a tough vote. We have to do the job that Congress has asked us to do … to make sure that we deliver on our promises to the American people.”

Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., called the sanctuary city issue “particularly harmful.”
He mentioned his home state governor, Democrat Katie Hobbspledged to resist Trump’s efforts to secure the border, saying she “made clear” she would “not tolerate” the plan. Hobbs is one of several other Democratic leaders in more than a dozen sanctuary states and dozens of sanctuary cities who have similarly pledged to resist mass deportations.
“The problem is, when you prevent the apprehension of illegal aliens who commit crimes, you prevent the safety of the community,” Biggs said. “When you ignore the law, the community is put at risk.”

Biggs said mayors and governors who double down on sanctuary policies and pledge to resist “will find themselves in hot water” and could face charges of obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting criminal cartels.
