The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced 2025-26 Central Contract (October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026) Both men’s and women’s teams will be played on Monday, February 9.

This time, the A+ level was cancelled, and a total of 30 players from the men’s team were awarded contracts, including 3 players in the A level, 11 players in the B level, and the rest in the C level. In the contract list for the 2024-25 season, five players including Mohammad Shami, Ishan Kishan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan and Mukesh Kumar did not get contracts.

For women, the list has been expanded from 16 to 21 people. Four players are placed in Class A, four players are placed in Class B, and the remaining 13 players are placed in Class C. As the board announces the list, we take a look at the five players who have been promoted in the BCCI Central Contract for 2025-26.


#1 Shubman Gill

The first name on the list is India’s ODI and Test captain, Shubman Gill. He joins Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja in the A-grade Central contract for 2025-26. Last year, Bumrah and Jadeja were given the A+ grade, but with that grade now gone, Gill staying in the A grade is actually a promotion for the 26-year-old.

Meanwhile, the right-handed batsman is currently out of action for some time as he is not part of India’s squad for the ongoing 2026 T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue started their campaign on a winning note, beating Team USA in the tournament opener at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on February 7.


#2 Washington Sundar

indian allrounder washington sundar Also received a promotion. The 26-year-old falls into Category C on the central contract list for the 2024-25 season. This time, he has been promoted to the B-grade, joining the likes of veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

On the cricket front, Sundar has been recovering from a side strain and is expected to join the Indian team in Delhi for the second match of the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday, February 12.


#3 Rodrigo

Women’s batsman Jemimah Rodrigues gets promotion from B to A grade, joining captain Harmanpreet Kaur as vice-captain Mandanaand all-rounder Deepti Sharma.

The 25-year-old played a crucial role in India winning the 2025 ODI World Cup and beating South Africa in the final in Navi Mumbai. During the tournament, Jemima played eight games and scored 292 runs in seven innings, averaging 58.40 and hitting a strike rate of 101.03, including fifties and hundreds. Her best score was an unbeaten 127 against Australia in the semi-finals.


#4 Snellana

Bowling all-rounder Sneh Rana also got a promotion and was rated B grade this time. The 31-year-old is in Category C on his central contract through 2024-25. Snee was also part of the Indian team that won the 2025 Women’s World Cup.

She will soon be back in action for India’s three-match ODI and T20I series against Australia, which is scheduled to begin on February 15 at the SCG, and will be part of the squad for both formats. Overall, Snee has played 79 matches for India across different formats, taking 106 wickets.


#5 Suryakumar Yadav

The last player on the list is the India T20 captain, Suryakumar Yadav. The Mumbai batsman leads the Indian team in the ongoing 2026 T20 World Cup and the team will return to the field for the second group match against Namibia on February 12.

In the central contract list for the 2024-25 season, Suryakumar Yadav belongs to the B category, while the A+ category also exists. With the A+ grade now scrapped, he remains in the B grade, effectively marking a promotion for the 35-year-old.
