A 24-year-old golfer successfully defeated Charlie Hull at the 2025 AIG Women’s Open to win this year’s Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year Award.

The golfer from Kettering was a two-time runner-up at the AIG Women’s Open in 2023 and 2025. Charlie Hull finished tied for second in this year’s major at Royal Porthcawl, two strokes behind the winner. Miyu Yamashita.

The Japanese professional golfer won the 2025 Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year Award. After winning the award, she shared her feelings during the event:

“I am truly honored to receive this award. I am happy to stand here today. I am also grateful that my name is among so many great players. I will continue to work hard and try to win more games.”

Yamashita happens to be the third Japanese pro to win the award since its inception. The award, named for Louise Suggs, one of the founding members of the LPGA, is awarded to an LPGA Tour rookie based on the highest points earned in an official tour event.

Yamashita scored 1,436 points in this year’s Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year Award, beating Leo Takeda by more than a hundred points. In addition to two wins on the LPGA Tour this year, the golfer has 12 top-10 finishes in 25 starts but missed the cut twice.
